The Plan Commission Wednesday night narrowly recommended the Common Council release an easement behind Roadhouse Pizza.

If approved, owner Boca Grande will be allowed to remove a driveway to the parking lot, and instead install a ramp to the lower level of Roadhouse.

The commission made the recommendation 3-2.

A petition submitted earlier this year asking the city not release the easement, as well as an alternative parking plan suggested by Ripon Main Street Manager Craig Tebon, gave pause to the commissioners.

The validity of that petition, for one, was at question.

Submitted Jan. 18, the petition was signed by 30 people who “request that the north entrance for the Jackson Street parking lot remain open.”

But the creator of that petition and Boca Grande disagreed on whether the other had misrepresented the facts when discussing the issue with neighbors.

Read the full story, as well as the Common Council's decision on the issue from its Monday, Feb. 22 meeting, in the Feb. 25 issue of the Ripon Commonwealth Press.
