DA: Brother contributed to man's death

Another serious charge has been levied against a rural Ripon man accused of hiding his deceased brother’s body in a barrel earlier this year.

Robert “Bob” J. Diamentis, 46, W13179 Olden Road, now faces one felony count of recklessly subjecting an individual at risk to abuse, causing death — a class C felony.

This new charge suggests prosecutors believe Diamentis is at least partly responsible for his brother’s death.

“It’s a reckless act, is what the charge indicates — not an intentional act,” Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney told the Commonwealth.

He indicated this new charge relates to “a series of incidents over time.”

Still, this new charge alone brings a possible maximum penalty of $100,000 in fines and/or up to 40 years in prison.

All told, if convicted on all charges, Diamentis could face a maximum penalty of 51 years in prison and $136,000 in fines.
