Ripon city leaders have created a revamped committee that aims to become a well-oiled economic development machine.

It’s a brand-new Community Development Authority (CDA), populated with city officials, local business people and community members. The former CDA has been disbanded.

Ripon officials are “trying to start a new day and create an enhanced CDA comprised of professionals in various development-related areas, such as finance, real estate, etc. — people who can make deals happen,” City Administrator Steve Barg explained.

“This will now be the economic development arm of the City Council,” he said.
