Fest returns Saturday with stage switch

A band plays in downtown Ripon during the 2016 Septemberfest. The main stage will move this year to the Village Green.

Music-lovers may be able to enjoy this year’s Septemberfest just a bit more than in the past.

When the event returns Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Ripon, the main music stage will be on the move. No longer will the main stage be wedged between the 100 and 200 blocks of Watson Street.

This year, event organizers aim to take advantage of Ripon’s best existing downtown stage.

“One of the biggest changes is we are going to flip stages. Our main stage is going to be on the Village Green,” said Jason Mansmith, executive direct of the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce. “... What that allows us to do is, come on in, bring their lawn chairs, maybe have a beverage or two and enjoy the music for the afternoon.”

The Del Rays, an Oshkosh-based band that plays music from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, will perform on the Village Green from 1 to 4 p.m.

Music still will be played elsewhere along Watson Street as well as part of the festival.
