Fire department eyes possible cause of house fire (FINAL STORY, VIDEO)

The fire just minutes before it spread to the vehicle parked between the garage and house.

A fire that destroyed a Ripon house may have started because of an electrical problem or heat buildup from solar panels, but it remains under investigation.

The house and garage at W14330 Brookwood Court are considered a total loss, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

The property is located just west of city limits in the Arcade Acres subdivision.

The fire broke out last week Wednesday afternoon, prompting a response from a dozen area departments.

“When we got there, the garage was fully engulfed and it was already into the house ... It had already started to come through the roof,” Ripon Fire Chief Tim Saul said. “The fire was way far ahead of us.”

Nobody was home at the time the fire broke out, homeowner Randy Skoog said.
