Longtime local resident Diana Galster-Kinas is the new member of the Green Lake Common Council.

Monday, Common Council members gave her the District 2 seat recently vacated by the late Tom Jones with a 3-2 vote. The term expires in spring 2011.

In opposition to the appointment were Alds. Donna Moore and Joe Parise.

In selecting Galster-Kinas, the council majority thereby decided not to appoint Jim Jahnke, who had spoken to the council earlier, sharing a desire to serve. Jahnke previously served on the council several years ago.

Galster-Kinas was sworn in and seated Monday, and the council then voted 4-2 to appoint Ald. Robin Wallenfang to the Plan Commission in place of Jones. Parise and Moore were opposed again. Read the full story in the Feb. 4 issue of the Ripon Commonwealth Press.
