Ripon’s mayoral race was not the only contested post in Tuesday’s election.
Several other elected offices included challengers, including on both the Common Council and Ripon Area School Board.
Common Council District 3
In District 3 for the Common Council, Howard Hansen topped challenger Andrew Zuelke 204-140.
Both were first-time candidates running to fill the position being vacated by retiring Ald. Gib Stoeberl.
Hansen was excited to have won, but said he believes “either candidate was going to do well for the district.
“I spoke with Andrew prior to the League of Women Voters forum [two weeks ago] and found out we really feel the same on quite a few of the issues ... Maybe it was my involvement I’ve had in the community over the years [that helped me win].”
