High-speed chase ends peacefully at city limits

A high-speed chase that reached speeds as high as 110 mph early Saturday evening ended peacefully just outside Ripon city limits.

The incident began along Highway 23, east of Ripon near the intersection with County Road KK.

According to Fond du Lac County Sheriff Sgt. Ryan Zitlow, the suspect “passed the deputy in the other direction at 110 mph, at which time the deputy turned around, activated his lights and siren and pursued the suspect.”

Zitlow said the deputy took note of how the suspect was “passing vehicles in a reckless manner” while continuing to travel at a high rate of speed.

The chase continued for 6.2 miles, during which time the suspect allegedly ignored the deputy’s attempts to pull him over.

But when the suspect approached Eastgate Drive on Ripon’s east side, “he decided he wanted to pull over and was taken into custody.”
