Horicon Bank buys Green Lake Bank

Green Lake Bank, 515 Hill St.

Horicon Bank announced this morning (Jan. 22) that it will buy Green Lake Bank — a branch of The Baraboo National Bank.

The purchase of what was formerly the Green Lake State Bank will include the branch’s fixed assets, loans and deposits. (The former Green Lake State Bank had merged with the Baraboo National Bank in 2008, dropping “State” from its title.)

Frederick Schwertfeger, president of Horicon Bank, said the acquisition of the bank at 515 Hill St. in downtown Green Lake will increase his bank’s assets to about $600 million and expand its locations to 11 communities, including Ripon.
