The Green Lake School Board will interview three finalists in its search for a superintendent to succeed Mary Allen Monday, April 19.
Allen is retiring in June after 43 years with the district.
The finalists, in alphabetical order, are Gina Baxter, Jodi Becker and Andrea Sheridan.
- Gina Baxter is the 4K-6 principal, district assessment coordinator and curriculum coordinator for the Green Lake School District, roles she has served since 2016. Baxter joined Green Lake School in 2009 and served in roles such as International Baccalaureate (IB) primary years program coordinator; 6th grade teacher; summer assessment coordinator/elementary curriculum; and intervention specialist/data analysis. She previously taught in the Ripon Area School District, the University of Phoenix and Jackson County School District in Florida. Baxter has two master’s degrees in business administration and elementary education/literacy and has a principal’s license.
- Jodi Becker is the director of instruction, district assessment coordinator and ESSA coordinator for the Berlin Area School District, posts she has served for the past decade. After joining the Berlin district in 1998, Becker taught English at Berlin High School for 13 years and served as an adjunct professor at Marian University for seven years. She is pursuing her Ph.D in education administration and leadership at Marian and expects to complete her degree in December 2021. Becker has master’s degrees in education leadership and education and earned her superintendent licensure in 2019.
- Andrea Sheridan is the director of teaching, learning and leadership integration for the Wausau School District, a position she has held since 2011. Sheridan joined the Wausau district in 2006, serving in roles such as district assessment coordinator and principal of Grant Elementary School. She previously worked in the Wauwatosa, Milwaukee and Geary County, Kansas, school districts. Sheridan has a master’s degree in administrative leadership and supervision and is pursuing her superintendent licensure from Cardinal Stritch University.
Green Lake School hired Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) 6 to lead the School Board through the search process.
The CESA 6 team screened applicants in March, interviewed first-tier applicants and presented finalists to the Board for consideration. The Board will interview the three finalists at its April 19 meeting.
Allen announced last year that she would retire in June 2021 after serving the district for more than four decades.
Allen joined GLSD in 1978 as a middle and high school special education teacher and rose to become the district’s middle/high school principal and superintendent. She was instrumental in building the district’s 4K-12 IB Program.
The Green Lake School Board thanked Mary Allen for her decades of dedication to the Green Lake School District and the community and wished her “a wonderful retirement.”
