Two people, including a 11-year-old child, were transported by helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah due to injuries sustained in a traffic collision in the town of Rosendale this morning (Wednesday).

Around 7:20 a.m., the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call about a motor vehicle crash with injuries on County Highway M north of Triangle Road.

According to a press release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene shortly after the call and learned that a passenger car heading northbound on County Highway M crossed the centerline and struck a minivan heading south.

Sgt. Ryan Zitlow said witness statements confirmed that the northbound passenger car was operating left of the center line when it struck the southbound minivan.

He noted the driver of the northbound vehicle, a 28-year-old male from Waupun, had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah by ThedaStar Air Medical Helicopter with serious injuries.

Zitlow said the southbound minivan that was struck was driven by a 45-year-old female from Pickett who was not injured.

However, he noted that the passengers in the minivan were an 9-year-old male, who was not injured, and an 11-year-old male, who was transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah by Med Flight with serious injuries.

"We received word that the 11-year-old has since been released from the hospital already," Fond du Lac County Sgt. Brennan Wagner said in an updated email.

Additionally, Zitlow said the operator of the northbound vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt, while the southbound driver was wearing a seatbelt.

At this time, he said it remains unknown if the two male passengers in the minivan were wearing seatbelts.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the village of Rosendale Police Department, town of Ripon Police Department, Rosendale First Responders, Rosendale Fire Department and the Ripon Guardian Ambulance Service.

The traffic crash closed County Highway M between Fletcher Road and Triangle Road for about an hour and a half, Zitlow said.

He added that the crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
