For the last several months, Lori Rich has been the interim city administrator for the city of Ripon.
As of this morning (Wednesday), she can remove the title “interim.”
The Common Council named the seven-year veteran of City Hall Ripon’s new, permanent city administrator.
Her first official day as city administrator, though, will be Friday.
“I am very excited about officially assuming the duties of city administrator and to continue making positive contributions to our community,” Rich said.
She takes over for Steve Barg, who left mid-January for a similar post in the city of Marshfield, Wis.
“The transition should be relatively easy because I have been doing the duties in the interim,” Rich said. “It should be a smooth transition.”
Prior to being named interim city administrator, Rich had been Barg’s assistant since 2003.
“While we had five very qualified finalists, we felt that Lori’s knowledge and understanding of where the city has been, where we are heading as a community and some of the challenges we face in the months and years ahead made her the best person for the job,” Mayor Gary Will said.
