The Ripon Family Dentistry building has a new occupant.

Sensational Smiles Orthodontics opened downtown Monday, offering orthodontic services to Ripon and surrounding communities.

It is located at 106 Watson St. and provides all of the orthodontic services that had been available at Silver Creek Dentistry.

Orthodontics is a dentistry specialty that addresses the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of mal-positioned teeth and jaws.

Prior to Sensational Smiles opening, local dentist Christopher Johnson said Silver Creek Dentistry had run out of space and needed to expand to serve its patients.

That’s why Johnson purchased the building at 106 Watson St. with the plan to relocate orthodontic services to that location.

“This is a new entity,” he said, noting Sensational Smiles will operate independently of Silver Creek.

Sensational Smiles will provide the services of a board-certified orthodontist, he noted.

The business will be open Mondays, Tuesdays and some Wednesdays.

“It will really run the gamut of orthodontic services,” Johnson said.

He added that Sensational Smiles can provide orthodontic services to anyone with a referral from their general dentist, regardless of where they live.

Johnson explained that general dentists typically do not perform orthodontics and refer patients to orthodontists.

“We’re just here to provide orthodontic services for the area,” he said. “People don’t have to come from Silver Creek; we can provide orthodontic services to anybody.”

Johnson added that Sensational Smiles Orthodontics is excited to get off the ground and hopes to become a lasting piece of downtown Ripon.
