Whichever high school principal the Ripon School District hires, his starting pay likely will fall within the range of from $95,000 to $105,000.

The Ripon School Board voted 8-1 in closed session Monday evening to establish the pay range for candidates Seth Meinel and William Greymont, who will visit Ripon this afternoon (Wednesday) for back-to-back meet-and-greet sessions at 2 and 3 p.m.

Their predecessor, Dan Tjernagel, earned a salary of $101,251 and $32,737 in benefits, according to the state Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) Administrative Salary Report for 2012-13, the most recent figures available for Tjernagel.

By comparison, the three other Ripon Area School District principals earn the following:

  • Tom Hoh, Ripon Middle School/Catalyst — $92,977 ($32,042 benefits);
  • Randy Hatlen, Murray Park Elementary/Quest — $88,010 ($31,172);
  • Myra Misles-Krhin, Barlow Park Elementary/Journey — $94,461 ($32,256)

These figure are as reported in the DPI’s 2013-14 Administrative Salary Report, a year later than the figures provided for Tjernagel.
