The DNR has begun accepting public comment on a proposed biodigester at an area dairy after rendering a preliminary approval of the project.

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Foundation Rosendale Biodigester LLC, N8997 County Road M, submitted a permit application to the DNR that includes plans for construction and initial operation of two anaerobic biodigesters.

This includes one 1,966 brake horsepower spark ignition enginge generator and one backup flare.

The DNR has made a preliminary determination that the application meets state and federal air pollution control requirements and that the permit should be approved. This type of proposal normally does not have the potential to cause significant adverse environmental effects and the DNR has not prepared an environmental assessment of the proposal.

This does not constitute approval from the air management program or any other DNR sections that may also require a review of the project.

A public hearing will be held to receive public comments on the air pollution control permit application for the construction of the proposed facility modifications. All comments received by the DNR on the proposed project will be considered by prior to a final decision regarding the project.

The hearing will be held Wednesday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at Ripon Public Library, 120 Jefferson St., in the Silver Creek room.
