Students at Ripon Area School District will have at least a three-day weekend.
News came Sunday morning at around 11:20 a.m. that the decision had been made. Parents who had signed up for the service were notified via a phone message.
The decision has been made in light of the impending extreme cold expected for Sunday night through early Tuesday morning.
Also closed in the Ripon area is the Green Lake, Princeton and Rosendale-Brandon school districts.

The Ripon Police Department also offered this warning via its Facebook page Sunday at 1:15 p.m.: "RPD wants to remind everyone about cold weather dangers. Please think about elderly neighbors, and check on them if necessary. Local schools are canceling classes for Monday so dangerous wind chills may limit any time for children outside. Think twice before travelling distances if not absolutely necessary. If you must go outside be prepared. Pack a winter vehicle kit and dress appropriately. Also RPD receives complaints about outside pets during these temperatures, bring pets inside or provide added cover."
