There won’t be another world record-breaking attempt at this Saturday’s Septemberfest, but Ripon’s annual fall festival aims for bigger and better.
Ripon attempted to break the record for the most people doing “The Twist” in 2007 and 2008, and the record for the most people giving a high-five last year, but all fell short.
“We’re going to give it a rest for a year, and then maybe come up with something super spectacular next year,” Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Paula Price said.
The Twist, however, has become a Septemberfest favorite, despite not making the record book. That’s why the crowd-pleasing band, The Britins, a Beatles cover band, will return.
So will the dance.
“So we’re celebrating The Twist even though we didn’t break the record,” Price said.
Septemberfest will return Saturday to downtown Ripon, with events throughout the day, all through the downtown.
