Roadhouse gets nod to expand into 104 Watson

One area not yet OK’d for construction is the rear side of the Roadhouse property. Boca Grande wishes to remove the driveway, in part to take the trash cans off the hill (as seen above), but the city first must determine whether it has an easement through that area.

Boca Grande was given the OK last week Wednesday night to proceed with a renovation and expansion project planned for Roadhouse Pizza.

Under the plan, the 102 Watson St. pizza and sandwich parlor will be expanded into 104 Watson, enabling the business to have much more seating, a private dining area, better lighting and a more updated setting.

What the Plan Commission wasn’t asked to act upon last week, though, was a portion of the project that has raised some concern with neighbors: changing the rear side of the property.

But, that issue aside, the commission didn’t identify many concerns.

“Looks good,” commissioner Dennis Cotton said at the close of discussions.

One concern the commission discussed was outside its purview: how Boca Grande will maintain historic elements of the buildings.
