It happened again. Although this time, the intruder’s apparent intentions were different.
Rural Riponite Bill Van Denburgh — who received national attention after catching a burglar and holding him at gunpoint this past spring — again brandished a pistol as he confronted a new trespasser on his property Monday.
But unlike the first incident, this week’s situation involved a 15-year-old runaway, whom Van Denburgh now believes was only seeking shelter in the cold.
At around 2:30 a.m. Monday, Van Denburgh noticed the light inside his storage building was turned on.
“I thought I was being burglarized again, because I got stung enough with the other one,” he said.
