Green Lake School District Administrator Ken Bates can remain in his position for at least two more school years.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, the Green Lake School Board returned from closed session and voted 5-2 to extend Bates’ contract through 2011-12.

Voting in favor were Wendy Schultz, Gordy Farrell, Jodine Deppisch, Meade Grim and President Amy Pipho.

Voting in opposition were Dennis Deyo and Harley Reabe.

Had the board taken no action by Feb. 1, Bates’ contract would have automatically extended to 2011-12 anyway. However, some board members forced the explicit decision by voting down an earlier motion to adjourn.
