Cost estimates (and the estimated tax impact) are available for the four options now being kicked around for Ripon’s long-term school facilities.

These four options have been whittled down from the original seven or so.

According to the district:

  • Plan A means building a new middle school on a new site (location yet to be determined) and remodeling the high school for $33.9 million.
  • Plan B means building a new high school on a new site and remodeling the high school to serve as the middle school for $39 million.
  • Plan C means building an addition onto the high school to create a combined middle/high school at an estimated cost of $29.1 million.
  • Plan D means re-building a new middle school at the existing site for $35.5 million.

All four options include $1.5 million in maintenance to the elementary buildings.

Those options are estimated to cost the average property owner $123 per year (on a $100,000 property) for the lowest of those four options, and $201 per year (on a $100,000 property) for the highest of those options.

The tax impact likely would continue for 20 years.
