Every new school year brings new faces into classrooms, both in the desks and at the blackboards.

The Ripon Area School District welcomed 20 new staff members at the School Board meeting Monday.

New Ripon Middle School choir teacher Alex Paulson — a Ripon College grad — was hired so recently the board approved her hiring that evening.

Another one of the new faces was school nurse Melanie Goeckerman. That position had its job description also approved 7-1 by the board Monday.

The main change to the description, according to Student Services Director Julie Krackow, was a qualification requirement of a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

Board member David Olson was the only board member to vote against the change (board member Andy Lyke was absent).
