Taxpayers in the Ripon Area School District will see a slight increase in the new tax levy, but a slight decrease in the new tax rate (mill rate) this year.
School Board members approved the final budget unanimously Monday.
The new, 2015-16 budget calls for a total tax levy of $8.044 million, up slightly from the previous levy of $8.003 million.
That’s an uptick of about a half percent.
Meanwhile, the new tax rate will drop about 8 cents per $1,000 of equalized valuation, from $12.43 to $12.35 this year, meaning the owner of a $100,000 property will see a drop of about $8.
Business Manager J.J. Gutman called this drop favorable news as the board approved it Monday.
