Residents and visitors entering Ripon will be greeted a little differently in the coming weeks.
Gone will be the “Welcome to Ripon” signs that are nearly 20 years old.
In their place will be new signs prominently featuring the city’s two main calling cards: the Little White Schoolhouse and Ripon College.
Three of the four signs are expected to be replaced by Thanksgiving, while the other will coincide with the planned 2015 reconstruction of Highway 44.
The change was brought to life when the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce began preliminary research on replacing the old signs around a year and a half ago.
John Rockwood, a semi-retired Riponite who used to own Ripon Ford, then took the idea and ran with it.
