Six injuries were reported in a three-vehicle crash that closed Highway 44 east of Ripon for a time last week Wednesday near the intersection of County Road FF in Utica.
On Highway 44, a southbound vehicle driven by a Princeton woman allegedly crashed into two northbound vehicles driven by Riponites.
The three drivers were Nancy J. Alf, Ripon; Amber R. Lavigne, Princeton; and Michael R. Nuenthel, Ripon. Three passengers were traveling among them as well.
According the accident report from the Winnebago County records department, the crash was sparked when Lavigne’s vehicle allegedly crossed the center line and sideswiped Alf’s vehicle. Alf’s vehicle went into the ditch and hit a stop sign.
Lavigne’s vehicle then continued farther into the opposite lane and struck Nuenthel’s vehicle head-on. Lavigne’s vehicle flipped and entered the ditch, while Nuenthel’s vehicle got spun around and ended up in the opposite lane, facing sideways. The crash closed the highway for several hours that afternoon. Meanwhile, Lavigne was cited with operating left of the center line.
