SSM Health Turkey donation

The SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region has donated more than 600 turkeys to area non-profit organizations. One such donation featured the Fondy Food Pantry with Mallory Gilbertson, left, Fondy Food Pantry Board of Directors, and Donna Pierce, director of Hospitality Services at the SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region.

For the past six years, the SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region provides a free turkey to all of its employees, volunteers and providers to enjoy at Thanksgiving or other time. They have the option to donate their turkey for distribution to area food pantries.

On Nov. 12, turkeys were given to 17 non-profit organizations in Alto, Brandon, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Oakfield, Ripon, Waupun and other surrounding areas. In addition, the turkeys will help feed veterans this holiday through the Catholic War Veterans and the American Legion.

“Each year, we enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to share this special gift with our employees, volunteers and providers to show how much we value their dedication and commitment to serving our patients, residents and their families,” said Dawn Vandenberg, regional director for Mission Integration. “We also know that there are many individuals and families that are struggling to make ends meet, and if these turkey donations can help in some way, we continue to fulfill our mission by meeting these needs.”
