One person is in custody this evening (Wednesday) after police were called to a home near downtown Ripon.
At around 7 p.m., Ripon Police responded to a white house off Thorne Street, across from Horicon Bank.
According to officers on the scene, multiple calls came in to police stating gunfire had been heard.
Upon arriving, officers took one suspect into custody.
No one has been injured in the incident, police confirmed.
Few other details, however, are available.
Riponite Chad Mann stated his son was close enough to the scene to hear the gunshots.
"My son heard 'Bang! Bang! Bang!' while he was shoveling," Mann said, noting he lives on Ransom Street. "... And the police car, the boy said, was going past our house ... slow."
Squad cars and officers from Ripon and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department could be seen at points around the vicinity of the home, with a staging area under the drive-through at Horicon Bank. Several law enforcement members could be seen in tactical gear with rifles.
Thorne Street, meanwhile, was blocked off at Watson and Ransom Street; it was reopened just before 7:30 p.m.
The exact nature of the incident, however, remains unclear. Further details will be released tomorrow.
