Bernice K. Wassell, age 93, of Chicago, IL recently of Ripon, WI passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Fountain View Care Center. She was born on November 12, 1917 in Chicago to the late Roy and Elsie (Shumann) Kramer. She attended local schools.

On May 22, 1943 she married the late Hugo Wassell, in Chicago, IL; they were blessed with nearly 67 years of marriage, he passed away in April 2010.

She was employed as an executive secretary by Montgomery Ward and after raising her sons, returned to employment with Continental Can Company, retiring in 1982.

Bernice is survived by her two sons, Loren (Rhonda) Wassell of St. Louis, MO; the Rev. Wesley (Bonnie) Wassell of Ripon; her grandchildren, Courtney (Doug) Guerra of Chicago, IL, Jodi (John) Keller and Lindsey (Dennis) Helgeson both of Sheboygan. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Turner, Macartney, Tristan, Gwenyth, and Lennon.

Funeral services for Bernice will be held at 3PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2011; at Wachholz Family Funeral Home, 175 N Douglas St. Ripon. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 2PM until the time of service. Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, 2PM at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
