Carl Franklin Yerk, age 91, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Ripon Medical Center.
Carl was born September 9, 1928, in Ripon, WI, the son of William H. and Emma L. (Beier) Yerk. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1946. From 1948 to 1960, Carl served our country in the Wisconsin Nation Guard, resigning as 2nd Lieutenant. On May 26, 1951, Carl married Ann Jeanette Prellwitz at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. He worked at Speed Queen for almost 32 years and after was employed with H.C. Prange Company for almost 15 years. Carl enjoyed target shooting, bowling, golfing, fishing and was a stamp collector. He was also an airplane enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ann Yerk of Ripon, WI; two sons, Jim (Mary Lou) Yerk of Berlin, WI and Robert Yerk of Ripon, WI; three grandchildren, James (Alana) Yerk of Ripon, WI, Jay (Sam) Yerk of Oshkosh, WI and Kayla Keipe; sister, Jean Zeto. Carl is further survived by step-sisters, step-brothers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marlowe Redeker, Florence Ladwig and Lorraine Durkee; brother, Roland Yerk; brothers-in-law, Lester Prellwitz and sister-in-law, Dorothy Walker and nieces and nephews.
Per Carl’s wishes there will be no service. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Lake View Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Oshkosh, WI. A memorial is being established in Carl’s name. Carl’s family would like to extend a thank you to Ripon Medical Center for the love and kindness to Carl and his family.
