Guy J. Rossberg

Guy J. Rossberg, age 67, of Green Lake, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday June 3, 2015 at the Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI.

He was born on April 4, 1948 in Cicero, IL, the son of Raymond P. Rossberg and Elsie A. (Mudrack) Rossberg and was later baptized into the Lutheran Faith.

After high school he studied Theology in Miami, Florida and then continued his education in the art field at the American Academy of Art. He later met his late wife, Donna Meyer while attending the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Guy and Donna were married on June 30, 1979 in the Chapel of the Pines on the ABA grounds in Green Lake. They were further blessed with the arrival of their son Michael Jeffrey, and daughter Ali Rae.

Guy and Donna worked together; as artists, silversmiths, and business partners, creating many treasures and future heirlooms for the Green Lake area. They opened Rossberg Studio in 1983. Eventually their business evolved into Wisconsin Gold & Gem, a treasure in the downtown area.

An artist at heart, his love for creating jewelry made his life fulfilling. For over 30 years, Guy hand-crafted unique, custom jewelry. He was best known for his Green Lake pendant, grape ring, and whale’s tale pendant. He spent his last few years teaching his children about jewelry and fine art so that they too may follow in his footsteps.

Guy was the Chairman of the Green Lake Fine Arts Show for the past 31 years. Guy and Donna were able to share their love of art by hosting one of Wisconsin’s most well respected Fine Art Shows. The traditions will be carried on by Mike and Ali for years to come.

Most importantly he was a wonderful father and husband to his family he cherished. He loved cooking late into the night, Manhattan in hand, with his family by his side. Gardening, mushroom hunting with friends and spending time with his grandchildren Miranda and Mikey, filled his day with love and joy.

He is survived by his son Michael J Rossberg of Green Lake; daughter Ali Rae Rossberg of Green Lake, his beloved sister Cheryl (Bill) Crawford of Hershaw, WI; grandchildren Miranda and Michael Jr. of Green Lake; nephews Paul and Joel Crawford, other relatives and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Donna (Meyer) Rossberg and his parents Raymond and Elsie Rossberg.

A Funeral Service for Guy will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of downtown Berlin with the Pastor Scott Piper officiating and burial will follow in the Dartford Cemetery of Green Lake.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Guy on Monday June 8, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home and may also call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday one hour prior to the service or from 10 to 11 a.m.

Guy had a one-of-a kind spirit. He was an honest, loving, and true friend. He will be missed tremendously by all.
