Jeanne “Momma-O” Homa Olinger, age 65, passed away September 10, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jeanne is survived by her husband Mark; sons Brian (Lauren) Olinger of Mount Horeb; Matt (Sarah) Olinger of Cary, North Carolina; grandchildren Jack, Kate, Brad and Henrik; along with brothers Scott (Lisa) Homa of Brookfield; Steve (Mary) Homa of Muskego; many beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends from American Girl, Alpha Phi and many other places along the way. She is preceded in death by her parents Elroy and Virginialee Homa; sister Mary Lynn Rodgers and brothers-in-law Tom Rodgers and Ronald Hoerner.
Jeanne was born and raised in the Milwaukee area, where she began her courtship with Mark. Their courtship lasted a wonderful 50 years and she was Mark’s rock covered in lace. After a few moves they settled as a family in Madison and began their love for Badger sports and driving to Milwaukee Brewers games. She worked at American Girl for over 15 years, up until her retirement this spring. Starting early on, Jeanne’s family and friends would take countless trips to her favorite destination: Disney World. She absolutely loved sharing her passion for all things Mickey Mouse and making kids and grandkids smile. After her cancer diagnosis, she devoted herself to pouring 40 years of family adventures into her last four wonderful years. She was able to travel to Hawaii and North Carolina, see grandchildren be born, sail on two cruises and buy a family lake home. Over the years she has been creating many memories at the lake home, where the doors are always open to family and friends. Above all, Jeanne loved her family. Her generosity will be missed but not forgotten. “If we stop dreaming and planning, we stop living.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church from 9:00am-10:50am on Saturday, October 24, 2015 with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am. An intimate ceremony for family will follow, at the lake home.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers and plants, memorials be sent to The UW Carbone Cancer Center or Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. The ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N 8th St., Mt. Horeb, WI is serving the family.
The family would like to extend a warm thank-you to all of the staff at Group Health Cooperative, The UW Carbone Cancer Center, UW Hospital and Clinics, Agrace HospiceCare and Gilda’s Club.
