Mace Luther Miller, 85, formerly of Green Lake, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Barrett House in Ripon.

Mace was born Feb. 16, 1926, on Sunny Brook Farm in Fairwater, the son of John W. and Beatrice (Hamley) Miller. He graduated from Ripon High School. In 1947 he married Evangeline “Dollie” Vollmer at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. Mace was a farmer and owner of Miller’s Lakeshore Resort with his wife Dollie on Green Lake. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Green Lake Willis-Chapel American Legion Post No. 306, Green Lake, and Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. Mace was a very special person. He was a progressive and inventive farmer, who loved farming with his father. Likewise, he was an extremely artistic and creative craftsman; working with stonework, stained-glass, woodworking, jewelry, carving and welding. Mace also loved sharing family history. Deeply loved by his family, Mace will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife Dollie of Ripon; a son, Jeffrey (Debbie) Miller of Sparta, a daughter, Debbie Jean (Tom) Davis of Ripon; his grandchildren, Wendy (Doug) Long, Robyn (Daniel) Volkmann, Chris Mace (Ashley) Davis, Ted Davis, Mark William Miller, Scott Jeffrey Miller; great-grandchildren, Jarrod, Julia and Amelia Long, Aya and Cyan Volkmann, and Mason Davis; a sister, Pat (Bob) Thorp of Sarasota, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. Mace was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John T. Miller.

Funeral service for Mace Miller was held Tuesday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with the Rev. Sandra Krynik officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Cemetery, Ripon. Memorials can be given to Barrett House, 632 Hilltop St. Ripon, Wis. 54971 or to Grace Lutheran Church, 430 Griswold St. Ripon, Wis. 54971, or The Fairwater Historical Society, c/o Pearl Schnicker, P.O. Box 151, Fairwater, WI 53931, in his name in his name.
