Merle Patrick Hollenback, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Wash.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1918 in Gothenburg, Neb. to Roy C. and Wilhelmina Hollenback. He was 92 years of age.
Pat enjoyed racing sailboats on Lake Michigan and later recreational sailing in the Puget Sound including around the San Juan Islands. He loved dancing and being useful to those in need of help. In 2001 Pat was awarded “Man of The Year” by the Sons of Norway in Poulsbo. His smile and twinkling eyes will be remembered by all that knew him and his shining example of outstanding character will live on through close friends and family.
He is survived by his children Merle James (Jim) Hollenback and Louise Hollenback Barbee of Suquamish, Wash. There are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a nephew, Steven Hollenback of Ripon and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers William R. and Charles Hollenback.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at The Messenger House Care Center on Bainbridge Island. Memorial contributions can be made to The Kitsap Humane Society and VFW of Poulsbo, Wash. or The American Legion in Highland Park, Ill.
