Pastor Alvin R. Aichele

Pastor Alvin R. Aichele, age 90, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Alvin was born on June 22, 1923, the son of Christian and Theresia (Gehring) Aichele in Garrison, N.D. His family moved to northern Minnesota by covered wagon, when he was very young. Alvin entered the U.S. Marine Corps in July 1943, and served until the end of the war in the Pacific Theatre, including Okinawa, Iwo Jima other Islands and China. After his honorable discharge, he made his home in LaCrosse, Wis. He married Leona D. Meinke on Feb. 23, 1946, in Norwalk, Wis. Alvin then worked a full time job and graduated from U.W. LaCrosse with a teaching degree. From there he went on to become a Minister of the Gospel, entering Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary at Mequon, Wis., vicaring at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield, Wis., and taking his first call to Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett, Wis.; where he served the Lord for 27 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 5278 in Ripon. Alvin was also known for helping people through his work as a Naturopath and Homeopath.

Survivors include his daughter, Joelitta (Michael) Meeker of Ripon; grandson, Christian (special friend, Stef Plagenz) Meeker of Ripon; 2 great-grandchildren, Benett and Hayden; 2 brothers, Herbert (Bonnie) Aichele, and Lawrence (Clare) Aichele; special nephew Dave Hetke; many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Leona (Dec. 15, 1993); his parents; 3 sisters, Ruth, Erna, and Laura.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 307 Mt. Zion Drive, Ripon, with The Rev. Dennis Meier officiating. Friends may call at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors, at Liberty Prairie Cemetery, Pickett. In lieu flowers, memorials may be given to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Pastor Aichele’s memory. Please visit our website www.wachholzandsons.com to send private condolences to the family.
