Thomas M. Jones of Green Lake, Wis. passed away on Jan. 14, 2010.
Thomas was born on July 6, 1939, in Ithaca, N.Y., the son of Thomas S. and Pauline G. Jones. Educated at Syracuse University, he then was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. Serving as a combat infrantry officer he saw action in the central highlands of Vietnam. The United States Army and the government of the Republic of South Vietnam decorated him for valor and gallentry in action. He was honorably discharged with the rank of captain.
He then entered a lifelong career in construction management specialiing in commercial and industrial building. His career encompassed the supervision of major projects in thirteen states throughout the midwest, south and southwest.
Tom was a former director of the Phoenix Society for the Arts, a member of the Fort Worth Rowing Club and the Heartland Ducks Unlimited committee. He chaired the ad-hoc committee regarding land development for Green Lake in 2005, a member of the ad-hoc committee for business development for Green Lake in 2008 and sat on the Green Lake Planning Commission in 2007 and 2009. He was elected to the Green Lake City Council in 2009 and served as alderman in the second district in 2009.
Tom is survived by his wife, Judy of Green Lake, Wis.; sister, Elaine Easton of Ithaca, N.Y.; son, Thomas R. Jones of Buccoda, Wash.; stepsons, Douglas Vrechek (Julie) of Green Lake,Wis. and Daniel Vrechek (Dana) of San Diego, Calif.; and grandchildren, Kyana, Blake, Cole, Matthew, Emma, Joshua, Lauren and Ava.
