Resource officer’s salary leads to discussions

Thirty-three-thousand dollars.

That is the maximum amount that the Green Lake School Board agreed to budget for the salary of a school resource officer at its meeting last week.

However, a few School Board members are concerned that the board is rushing into its decision to set aside money for the position when it doesn’t have a clear idea of what the duties are for that job or how the Green Lake School District will share the officer with the local police department, the Princeton Police Department and the Princeton School District.

Superintendent Mary Allen addressed the board last week Wednesday about the school resource officer, proposing the board approve budgeting $30,000 to $33,000 for the position’s salary.

She noted the amount was settled upon after talks with the Green Lake and Princeton police departments and the Princeton School District.
