The Ripon High School softball team amassed 13 hits and scored seven runs against a quality Freedom pitcher last week Thursday.
Normally, that kind of offensive output would be enough to win the game.
But a poor defensive outing spoiled Ripon’s chances, as it lost to the Irish 12-7.
The Tigers committed an uncharacteristic nine errors in the game.
“You score seven runs against Freedom, you would think you’d win the game,” coach Jeff Krentz said. “What it came down to was we didn’t play very good defense and committed way too many errors — that was the difference in the game.”
