The Red Hawk softball team continued to play with an unblemished record Tuesday after taking a pair of close victories while playing at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.

The women first defeated Manhattanville (N.Y.) 6-5, before edging St. Joseph’s (Conn.) 4-3.

With the wins, Ripon extended its season-opening win streak to six games. Compare that against 2010’s visit to the same tournament, in which the Hawks went 2-4 to start out.

As of press time, details about the wins were not available.

Ripon 4, Cortland State 1
Ripon 9, Mt. Ida College 2

Ripon had a historic day to remember on Monday. Not only did it improve its record to 4-0 for the first time since 2007 with a pair of wins, but their 4-1 victory over 13th-ranked Cortland State is the highest-ranked team Ripon’s softball program has ever beaten.

It also marks the second-consecutive season the Red Hawks have defeated a team that is ranked in the NFCA Top 25.
