The Ripon High School volleyball team couldn’t take advantage of its opportunities Tuesday night as it was swept in three games by Laconia in Rosendale.
It lost 13-25, 16-25 and 16-25.
“They were definitely a team we could’ve beat,” Ripon head coach Tracy Landerman said. “We had a lot of inconsistencies and that really made the difference. We did a lot of good things, but we were still too inconsistent and couldn’t capitalize when we had the chance ...”
Landerman added that when the Tigers did break the Spartans’ serve and had opportunities to go on runs of their own, they often gave the ball right back.
Ripon also must improve its blocking game, the coach noted.
The Tigers finished with just a handful of blocks in the match, with MacKenzie Klettke leading the team with just three.
“A big area for us that we really still need to key in on and work on is going to be our net defense and starting to put up a good solid block so we can take some heat off of some of the hits that are coming our way and help out our backcourt defense,” Landerman said.
