Not many people could have predicted this kind of start for the Tiger football team.
Four games into the season, Ripon has yet to lose.
And the games haven’t been that close, either. Ripon has won every contest by 14 points or more.
With the number of question marks going into the season, this kind of success couldn’t have been expected.
The team lost 23 players to graduation from last year, including nearly the entire offensive line and Ripon High School all-time leading rusher Connor Hanson, and his counterpart, Zach Farrell.
Therefore the running game, which had been so vital to Ripon’s success in years past, was a huge unknown. The offensive line was undersized, and starting running back Ben Wetzel had only played behind Hanson and Farrell to this point.
Due partially to this, the Tiger coaches decided to make the passing game a more prevalent part of the offense, behind strong-armed senior quarterback Michael Polcyn.
