When asked about his optimism for the upcoming season, Ripon American Legion head baseball coach Keith Cluppert could not help but grin from ear-to-ear.

It is not hard to see why.

The majority of players on Ripon Post 43’s squad are fresh off a high school state tournament appearance and have plenty of experience.

“I was pretty excited ... based on what the high school did in making it to state,” Cluppert said.

Adding to Cluppert’s excitement is the return of two players who just completed their first year of college — Matt Putzer and Adam Cluppert — and the addition of pitcher Nate Tremore, who played for Watertown Lutheran Prep this past high school season.

With Tremore and Putzer thrown into the mix, Cluppert sees the team’s pitching as a strength.

They will join Payton Bryden and Owen Krueger, who are coming off successful high school campaigns, to make up what should be a potent four-man rotation.
