New-look Tiger girls team ready to make a name for itself

Michelle Koster and Allie Novitske are the lone seniors on the Tigers squad.

Coach Bill Peters believes the 2009-10 edition of the Ripon High School girls’ basketball team has something to prove.

Last year’s team, which came one game away from the state tournament, is just a memory. With that team went seven seniors, including standout Taylor Wurtz.

“We lost seven seniors — we have a void to fill as soon as possible,” Peters said. “This team needs to find its own identity.”

And the key to finding that identity may start with the only two seniors on the squad, Michelle Koster and Allie Novitske.

“Allie started the last 18 games last season,” Peters said. “Michelle got in the rotation and has a some experience.”

The Tigers squad is made up of the two seniors, along with four juniors and five sophomores.
