The Ripon High School track and field teams began practice Monday afternoon — the earliest day allowed by the WIAA.

Sixty-nine athletes make up the opening-day roster, which is an increase from last year.

Ripon’s first competition is scheduled for Friday, March 22 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s Kolf Sports Center. It is the Tigers’ only indoor meet of the year.

A season preview will run in the Thursday, March 21 edition of the Ripon Commonwealth Press.

The next spring sport able to begin practice is softball. It is able to start Monday, March 11. Baseball and girls’ soccer will follow the next Monday (March 18), while boys’ tennis and boys’ golf will be the last to begin practice the week after (March 25).
