Ripon College will celebrate the completion of its new singletrack mountain bike trail with a grand trail opening Saturday, Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. at the president’s house, 1 Merriman Lane.

Ripon College was the recipient of a $25,000 Pepsi Refresh Everything Grant in October. The grant was used to hire the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Solutions team to design and construct the approximately 2-mile trail.

While designed specifically for mountain bicycling, the trail also may be used for hiking and trail running, and snowshoeing in the winter.

“Even before the trail was completed there were many people exploring and enjoying it,” said Ric Damm, head coach of the cycling team at Ripon College. “It’s exciting to see the enthusiastic reception the trail has had in the community and the use it has received already.

“From the start, I wanted this trail to be a resource not solely for the Ripon College mountain bike team, but for the entire Ripon community. I think we’ve been successful in achieving that. Now we want to celebrate that achievement with the community.”
