Red Hawk women remain goal-oriented

As she embarks on her 20th season as coach of the Ripon College women’s basketball team, Julie Johnson’s goals for her team remain the same: make it to the NCAA Tournament.

But, it goes deeper than team goals.

“I’d like to improve every day and be able to get everything out of every player that we can,” Johnson said.

And Johnson knows that it won’t be an easy task making the tournament this year, even though Ripon brings back an experienced team and four of five starters from last year.

Even matching last year’s success would be enough for a lot of teams. The Red Hawks advanced to the NCAA tournament after winning the Midwest Conference Tournament. The team won the tournament by defeating regular season champion St. Norbert in a thriller.
