Fifteenth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) swept the Red Hawk baseball team in a doubleheader last week Saturday in Ripon

The Red Hawks dropped game one 13-3, before falling late in game two 14-3.

The losses drop Ripon’s overall record to 7-11, including losing seven of its last eight games.

The second game however, was much closer than the score indicated as it was an eight-run ninth inning that put the game out of the reach of the Red Hawks.

“The score of the game was 14-3 and you think, ‘That wasn’t a competitive game,’ but it actually was. We had the bases loaded, nobody out in the bottom of the seventh with our 3, 4, 5 hitters up. If either one of them got a hit the score would have been 6-5,” coach Bob Gillespie said. “We just didn’t take advantage of that opportunity.”
