In cross country, it is often hard to compare times from one course to another due to differences in elevation and distances.

Ripon head coach Chris Gatzke did not have to worry about that Tuesday evening, when his team took part in the Green Lake/Princeton Kevin McHale Invitational.

Held at the same place — Tuscumbia Country Club — that the Tigers’ home invitational took place at less than two weeks earlier, Gatzke could compare performances.

“I am very pleased with the results,” Ripon head coach Chris Gatzke said, adding hotter weather did affect his teams’ times a little bit. “... It appears like we did run some better times this week than we did a couple weeks ago on the same course and that is always good to know and good to see.”

As a team, the girls finished third out of 11 teams, while the boys placed sixth out of 12 schools.

The Tiger girls were led by Katelin Cunningham, who missed the first race at the course due to ACT testing. The senior finished second overall with a time of 17 minutes, 14 seconds.

Her presence helped the varsity team improve upon its overall average time from its home invitational by more than 11 seconds.

Cunningham was followed by Kaitlynn Azinger (14th place, 18:49), Taylor Beck (20th, 19:12), Mackenzie Briskie (24th, 19:32) and Emma Thirsten (25th, 19:40).
