After winning its last two games, the Ripon High School Tiger softball team was brought back to Earth Tuesday as it lost to Waupun 25-1 in five innings.

It allowed nine runs in the first inning, six in the second and five each in the third and fourth en route to the home loss.

“Coming off of the two games that we had played, we saw a totally different style of pitching and different speed of pitching,”

Ripon head coach Rachel Minch said. “And coming into today’s game with uncontrollables of the weather did not help their spirits going into the game. Everybody was playing tight, playing cold and we had a couple injured players so we had people in positions where they typically wouldn’t be, one of them being Cassidy [Mader].”

She added Waupun (8-2 conference, 10-4 overall), which finished with 21 hits, always is a good hitting team and no matter what it seems to adjust to the pitcher and make hits that count.
