Tennis singles one step from state

A quartet of Tiger tennis players have moved on to the Whitewater sectional tournament, scheduled for today (Wednesday). Who are they? The fearsome foursome are the Tigers’ singles players — from left, No. 4 Nicole Thorson, No. 1 Andrea Lyke, No. 2 Maggie Brumley and No. 3 Kristi Fischer. The four singles players earned the chance to move on to state by winning all their matches at Monday’s subsectional tournament.

The Ripon High School tennis team had a banner day Monday, Oct. 5.

Not only did all four singles players earn a berth at the sectionals tournament, but the team earned a subsectional championship.

Now the four singles players are just one step from making it to the state tournament.
