Tiger golfers overcome windy day at Lawsonia to defeat Fox Valley Lutheran

Alex Kranz takes a chip shot Tuesday. He earned meet medalist honors with a seven-over-par 43.

When Ripon High School head golf coach Rick Kelm says he doesn’t remember the Golf Courses of Lawsonia ever being as windy as it was Tuesday night, that is saying something.

The Tigers were able to handle the wind better than their opponent, Fox Valley Lutheran, as they edged the Foxes by four strokes — 188 to 192 — to win their Eastern Valley Conference opener

“I thought several of our golfers played well considering the conditions,” Kelm said. “It was very windy, in fact I think as windy as I have seen it and that says a lot for Lawsonia. I was happy that they got through some tough moments on the course and that we pulled it out. I am very pleased to get the season off to that start.”

Highlighting the match for the Tigers was Alex Kranz, who finished as the meet medalist with a seven-over-par 43.
